Driving for vacant or abandoned properties is easy, and likely something you are already doing!  Watch the video to see what to look for, and then read through the information below to get started! WHICH HOUSES TO LOOK FOR:

 

While driving around, look for obvious signs of vacancy. You are looking for vacant/abandoned single family homes.

  • Boarded up windows/doors

  • Piled up mail/newspapers

  • Smashed or broken windows

  • Tall grass

  • Code violation stickers

  • Condemned stickers

  • Old door hangers, only on one door and no other houses on the street

  • Clearly empty houses

  • Tree(s) down in the driveway

Below is an example of what a code violation sticker looks like on a house.  There are different types, so different cities may vary, but generally speaking the image below is what you will see. You will see these types of stickers/papers posted on doors & windows. Look for words such as 'Violation' to confirm.

While driving around you are NOT looking for...

​

  • Homes that have a FOR SALE sign in the yard

  • Homes that are in perfect condition

  • Homes where someone is currently living (ie. not vacant)

  • Homes with a lockbox on the door

  • Homes that are listed with a Realtor

  • Homes that have a dumpster in the front (a sign someone is renovating it)

HOW TO GET PAID

This is the best part!  Follow the directions below to submit each vacant or abandoned house you find.  We will pay you $1,000 in cash for each property you submit that turns into a deal (no cap - no limits - unlimited deals). 

 

  • Sign up with us below and we will setup a FREE account for you

  • On your smartphone go to Play Store (Android) or App Store (Apple), download/install the DealMachine app

  • When you find a vacant or abandoned house, launch the DealMachine app on your phone and enter the vacant or abandoned property address at the top.  

  • Once you enter the property address, at the bottom there will be a plus (+) sign, click on the plus (+) sign and it will submit the property address under your account.

  • That's it - submit unlimited vacant or abandoned properties following the steps above and receive $1,000 for each submitted property address that we turn into a deal!

TIPS & TRICKS

​

Some additional tips that will help you.

​

  • Talk to neighbors who are outside, ask them, "Hey do you know anything about this vacant house?" Many times neighbors can give you a lot of information about a property, and they are usually willing to help (sometimes they even give you the owners phone number). Neighbors don't want vacant houses in their neighborhood because it decreases their property value.

 

  • If you drive around on trash day you will find all of the properties that do not have their trash can by the street.  This means they are either on vacation or the house is vacant!

 

  • If there are alleys, driving around to the back of the house can show more signs of vacancy. Seeing the backyard, or back of the house, usually helps identify if a property is vacant or abandoned.
